The Sundial Bridge

As you know already, the Sundial Bridge is one of our favorite places in Redding. We go there all the time. Anyway, here are some fun/sweet pictures I took when we went for a walk on the bridge and to play in the water mid-February.

Lindsay, Emma, and Nathan sitting on the stone wall.

Sibling love . . . or is it rivalry?!

Lindsay striking a pose

Emma in front of the Sacramento River . . . this picture is just SO Emma!

Jerry and Jeffrey chillin on the sand together . . . we had the hardest time convincing Jeffrey that he didn't want to eat the rocks!

Nathan, he finally held still long enough for me to snap a picture!

Jeffrey . . . how cute is this little guy?!

Lindsay, Nathan, and Jeffrey getting ready to leave.

The kids exploring along the river bank.

Jeffrey and me in front of the river.

Coleman Family Reunion

Every year the Coleman family gets together at the beginning of February for a big, weekend family reunion! We had tons of fun this year even though I was very pregnant and not up for hiking in the snow too much. The kids, as always, had the best time with their cousins . . . it didn't seem to matter what they were doing as long as there were plenty of cousins to play with!

Here is our traditional family hanging out in the snow picture!

Emma shoveling for her snow slide (she made it all by herself--with a little help from daddy) and the littler kids had fun sliding down it without sleds.

Lindsay making a snowball with her snowball maker . . . that was her favorite part of the snow . . . throwing it at people!

Nathan chillin' in the snow

Carissa, Jeffrey, Nathan, and Jenna playing around in the house.

Nic, Hunter, Ryan, Emma, and Jacob all watching/play Nintendo DS

Jerry out in the snow with the kids. Since I spent most of the weekend in the house with Jeffrey, Jerry spent most of the weekend outside in the snow/rain/slush with the older kids! He's such a good Dad!

Me watching as the guys work on the yearly sled-run extravaganza!

Jeffrey playing around in the house.

As always it was tons of fun!!

Emma's 5th Birthday!

I know it's almost March, but I am finally going to post some pictures of Emma's birthday! On January 7th our little sweetheart turned 5 years old!

Blowing out the candles on her heart shaped cake! She was adamant that it be chocolate cake with chocolate frosting in the shape of a heart with her name written on it!

Her big present this year was a bike (the same size as Lindsay's big girl bike)!! And she was so thrilled with it that she's been zooming around on it ever since . . . scaring me as she tears around corners going way to fast!

This was her year to have a friends party, but the people she most wanted to invite were all adults, not kids. So, we ended up inviting our Bishop, his wife, and his mom (some very good friends of Emma's). A little strange, I know, but it turned out to be a lot of fun, and Emma loved having them there. As long as she's happy, we're all happy!!

What exactly did I do today???

Do you know that feeling when you get to the end of a long day and you are completely exhausted and you look around your disastrous house and think . . . what exactly did I do today? Yesterday was one of those days for me.

Well, one of my friends tagged me to list everything I did in a day, and I'm going to try it, maybe it will make me feel like I accomplished something despite the tornado that is my house right now.
  • Woke up once in the night with Jeffrey and once with Emma
  • Alarm went off at 6:00 am but took me 15 minutes to drag my ginormous self out of bed for a shower
  • Jeffrey was up and crying when I got out of the shower, so got to hold/play with him while I tried to at least comb my hair and brush my teeth (make-up will have to wait till later)
  • Woke the girls up and got their clothes out so they could get dressed for the day
  • Put Jeffrey in his high chair with a waffle and some cut up bananas
  • Fed the dog, cat, and rabbit
  • Went back to tell the girls they'd better be getting dressed or else . . .
  • Made Lindsay's lunch and snack for school (PBJ, crackers, gogurt, and a candy with trail mix for snack)
  • Got Nathan up and made him peaches oatmeal
  • Dragged the girls out of their room and gave them cereal and oatmeal
  • Cleaned Jeffrey up and got him dressed
  • Cleaned Nathan up and got him dressed (all the while instructing the girls on what they had forgotten or still needed to do - comb your hair, brush your teeth, pack up your backpack etc.)
  • Put Emma's hair into pigtails with cute little purple bows (Lindsay opted for a headband)
  • Realized as we were walking out the door that I hadn't eaten anything so grabbed an apple and a water bottle
  • Buckled Nathan and Jeffrey into carseats and drove out of the driveway at 7:23 (only 3 min. late, not too bad)
  • Drove 15 minutes across town and dropped Lindsay off and we were actually a little early for school! Yeah! (Ate apple, drank water)
  • Drove back across town to drop Emma off at preschool. Sat in preschool for 15 minutes to read Emma and Nathan a story
  • Buckled Nathan and Jeffrey back in the car and drove home
  • Turned on a movie for Nathan while I made Jeffrey a bottle and put him down for a morning nap
  • Ate a bowl of cereal and read the paper for 10 minutes
  • Cleaned like crazy for the next half hour so my house wouldn't be so embarassingly dirty when the sitter arrived.
  • Babysitter came at 9:15 to watch Nathan and Jeffrey while I went to a doctor's appt.
  • Went to doctor were I had to be weighed (YUCK . . . I'm already 44 lbs up and still gaining) and have a pelvic exam (BLUCK). I am 50% effaced and 1 centimeter dialated though . . . yeah me.
  • Drove back home where Jeffrey had woken up early from his nap because sitter decided to play hungry hippo with Nate (the noisiest game we own).
  • Fed Jeffrey and gave Nathan a snack (forgot to eat anything myself though)
  • Packed extra diaper bag and bundled Jeff and Nate back up and buckled back in the car to drop Jeffrey off for his 11:00 visit with Mom.
  • Took Nathan and made a mad run to JoAnn's (trying to find a craft to do with Emma's preschool on Friday). Didn't find anything.
  • Rushed back across town to pick Emma up from Preschool, then went to Michael's where we found a cute little Valentine Foamie Craft! Yeah!
  • Ran home, fed Nathan lunch. This time I remembered to eat too!
  • Went back to pick Jeffrey up from visit, dropped off books/movies at Library, drove over to pick Lindsay up from school. (parked a couple blocks away and had to wake Jeffrey up and carry him because I forgot to bring a stroller, DANG!)
  • Picked up Lindsay and all walked back to car buckled back in and drove home.
  • Put Nathan down for a very late afternoon nap.
  • Gave the girls and Jeffrey a snack.
  • Unpacked Lindsay's backpack and sorted through the beginning of the week paperwork.
  • Tried to put Jeffrey down for a nap, but he refused because he'd already had a 15 minute cat-nap on the way to pick up Lindsay.
  • Spent the next hour helping Lindsay do homework and Emma write her name on the back of all of her Valentine's cards for preschool.
  • Woke Nathan up and gave him a snack.
  • Sent all the kids (except Jeffrey) outside to play while I got the potato soup on the stove and freezer rolls in the oven to thaw. Thank heavens for a little sun and warmer weather!
  • Sat down on the kitchen floor and played with Jeffrey for a little while so he would stop emptying all the food out of the pantry.
  • Fed the animals and picked up the mail.
  • Finished up the soup, started baking the rolls, and set the table.
  • Tied a zillion little tiny bows out of red ribbon for the preschool craft on Friday, and made my example craft so they could see what it should look like.
  • Jerry came home and we all had potato soup and rolls for dinner.
  • Clipped and painted the girls (and Nathan's) fingernails . . . they'd been begging for a week or more and I kept putting them off.
  • SAT DOWN ON THE COUCH . . . YEAH!! And read stories to the kids.
  • Helped kids to get into jammies, brush teeth, read scriptures, say prayers, etc.
  • Put Jeffrey to bed while Jerry put Nathan and Emma to bed.
  • Left for my 7:30 primary presidency meeting while Jerry helped Lindsay with her reading homework.
  • Got home from my meeting about 9:00 and started getting ready for bed (thankfully my wonderful husband had put Lindsay to bed and done the dishes while I was gone!)
  • In bed by ten and ASLEEP IN SECONDS!

A couple of notes: I changed four poopy diapers and numerous wet ones throughout the day also, and at some point in the morning I did put on mascara and put my hair into a ponytail, but that's as far as I got with my personal beautification. Also, I don't always drive around that much, but yesterday was Jeff's once a week visit with mom, and my doctor's appt., and I also had this silly Valentine's craft I had to figure out so I can take my turn to volunteer in Emma's class on Friday. Oooh, and I almost forgot, but I probably went to the bathroom 20 or 30 times throughout the day too, because this baby is really low and is evidently using my bladder as a full body pillow as well as a punching bag!

Ah, life is busy and good!
